Apollo Music Academy (AMA) are a music school, offering a quality music education to aspiring musicians of all ages and abilities.
Since 2019, AMA has been providing music tuition to schools around Geelong and our studio located on the Bellarine Peninsula.
AMA has always aimed at building a thriving community where everyone can feel welcome. Through close collaborations with schools, AMA teachers ensure the provision of high-quality instruments and suitable teaching spaces for weekly lessons.
Our friendly and organised administrative team communicate and help coordinate around busy timetables, ensuring that each student receives their lessons and are building toward their skill-based and performance-based goals.
Starting as a raw beginner, or with prior experience, these lessons are catered for the individual wants and needs of the student (and parent). We will pursue music of your interest and explore new musical realms, whilst additionally sneaking in strengthening exercises, aural training and theory - all in the name of conditioning you toward becoming an achieved musician.
Private Lessons: Our most popular service, private 1-on-1 lessons are designed to cater directly for our students’ needs and learning styles. Our teachers solely focus on improving and developing our students’ skills whilst teaching learning songs, concepts, notation and exercises whilst building strong teacher-student relationships.
Shared Lessons: Similar to our private service, shared lessons are a more affordable 2-on-1 option. We aim to pair students of similar ability and age levels to share their musical journeys together. Teachers will creatively conduct lessons for their students to ensure they have the content and understanding they need to develop their skills and work towards their goals.
Music Theory: From scratch or from an advanced level, we provide in-depth lessons covering music theory-based topics, and can work towards specific goals. These lessons can be used as assistance to VCE, University or exam studies.
Composition: In composition lessons, we provide techniques and tools that help create a unique piece of music.
We cater to your goals, such as song writing (with lyrics), solo instrumental pieces, orchestral works, soundtrack composing, and sound design.
Exam Preparation: Exams are nationally and internationally recognised as a demonstration of your musical ability and achievement. Exams can be used as a tool to drive students with a goal to improve skills in focus areas.
Rock Bands: Students enrolled in lessons have the opportunity to learn and perform in a group environment, and apply the skills that they have learnt in an ensemble. Our band teachers strive to prepare their bands toward performance goals and events to showcase their repertoire.
Choirs: We offer all students at your school the opportunity to be part of a choir. Students of small or large groups will get to sing songs together and learn many skills relating to pitch, rhythm and teamwork.
Music Clubs: Each term, we offer a weekly 'Music Club'
which specialises in learning a particular instrument for that term, with the goal to perform at the end of the term. Instruments learnt in Music Clubs include ukulele, recorder, boomwhackers, glockenspiel and percussion.
We offer students a number of opportunities to showcase their hard work. By building performance experience, students can overcome the first hurdle of stagefright and own the stage they are on. Performance opportunities include, but are not limited to, the annual end-of-year concert, school assemblies, talent shows, battle of the bands, school and community events.
